Bored with the same old recipes?  Some lovely cookery books have been donated so you can ring the changes – the one devoted to apple recipes might well come into its own this autumn!

Ready to laugh out loud?  Jerome K Jerome’s “Three Men in a Boat” is just the ticket. First published in 1889 and never since out of print – three young clerks set out on a boating trip down the river Thames with the unruly fox terrier Montmorency causing trouble at every opportunity.

Some more fun can be found in “I Before E (Except After C) – how many of the old school ways to remember things can you recall?

Finally, this month, two collections of short stories by Agatha Christie – “The Thirteen Problems”, a story told by each member of The Tuesday Night Club including Miss Marple and “The Listerdale Mystery”.

Thank you this month for:

Church Cleaning: Karen Baines; Anne Harvey; Debra Thatcher

HER MAJESTY QUEEN ELIZABETH II 1926 – 2022
A Service of Thanksgiving and Holy Communion held on the first Sunday of the period of mourning for Her Majesty was well attended – our grateful thanks are extended to Rev’d Jes Salt for such a moving service which gave us an opportunity to reflect on the life of dedication of our late Queen and for thanksgiving for her long life.

HONOURING GOD AND CREATION
Join us at the church at 2:30pm on Saturday, 8th October for a lively and informative talk on environmental matters and the path to Net Zero Carbon by 2030 and for an opportunity to meet with Bishop John, the Bishop of Brixworth, who has particular responsibility for the environment in Peterborough Diocese.  Tea will follow.

This event was well attended and informative.

The Ridlington Singers were due to hold an informal concert on Friday, September 16th in the Church.

This has now been cancelled as a mark of respect of the passing of Her Majesty the Queen.

We will therefore reschedule the concert to another day and will inform you of the new date shortly.

Thank you.

The church has some building works coming up in the next two years – take off the inappropriate plaster where the damp is getting in and make good.

Needless to say we are looking for grant funding but this opportunity has arisen through the church’s insurers – they have a draw with a prize of £1,000.

Wouldn’t it be great if we could secure this for Ridlington?

To do your bit, please can you use the link below and vote for Ridlington Parochial Church Council, an exempt charity.
