Dear Ladies,
We will still be going ahead with the Handbags and Accessories sale on Saturday despite the forecast being for a “high expectation” of rainfall. We won’t let the weather dampen our spirits.
If the weather continues to forecast rain, then the venue for this event will take place in St. Mary Magdalene & St. Andrew Church, Church Lane, Ridlington.
We look forward to seeing you on Saturday, June 18th – 10:30 – 12:00 noon.

Where to start this month? A good mixed selection to my mind.
First, another memoir from Brian Blessed entitled “Absolute Pandemonium”. I had read “The Dynamite Kid”, his memoir of his childhood and teen years growing up in a mining village in Yorkshire, so was pleased to read another instalment of memoirs containing many anecdotes from his long career. Needless to say, there is a lot of name dropping and some of the language used will not suit everyone.
Next, a novel based on a true story. Heather Morris’ “The Tattooist of Auschwitz”. It was originally written as a screenplay which might explain the large amount of dialogue rather than descriptions. Rather like Marmite, you will love or loathe this book. I fell into the former category.
A John le Carré novel is next “A Perfect Spy” – apparently some aspects of the novel are taken from real life. The narrative switches between the “present” day manhunt for Pym and his first person reminiscences of his life – a good spy story and thought by some to be le Carré’s best novel. I enjoyed reading it.
Last but not least, Richard Osman’s “The Thursday Murder Club”. It has been on the bestseller’s list for months – not bad for a debut novel. If you have not yet read it, I recommend it. I thought the principal characters were well developed with interesting back stories and there is a lot of humour in the novel too. Can you work out who dunnit?
All books available to borrow from the church.
They may also be purchased, donations please give to Debra Thatcher.
