This turned out to be a successful event and a Big Thank you go to Karen and Richard Baines for organising it. There were 8 entries to the competition and £57.00 was raised towards the Church fund.

Judging took place on Sunday, July 4th and the winners were as follows:

There was such great interest in testing our baking skills across all age and gender groups that another challenge was requested.

Joan Lount  –  July 17th 1943 – July 4th 2021 (aged 77)

It is with great sadness to announce that our dear Mother, Sister, and Grandmother Joan Lount passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 4th 2021.

Joan moved from Oakham to Ridlington in 1977. She has since lived happily in her Cottage opposite the Church. Joan was well known in the community through her farming life and always enjoyed participating in regular village events.

Her funeral service will be held on Tuesday, July 20th at 11:00am at the Parish Church of St. Mary Magdalene & St. Andrew, Ridlington, followed by a burial in the church grounds, where she will be laid to rest with her dear husband John. The family would like to thank Joan’s friends and neighbours for the support they gave her whilst she lived in the village.

All villagers are welcome to attend as there are no restrictions on attendance. The Vicar may request that a face covering is worn during the service and that social distancing is respected.

The Lount family

Since the pandemic started last year, the first Village Hall Coffee Morning was held on Friday July 9th.

As it turned out the weather was lovely and there were alot of villagers who came to enjoy getting out and catching up over a cup of tea and delicious cakes.

A big thanks to everyone who came along, who baked a cake and made a donation. A total of £136.50 was raised towards the Village Hall funds.

We look forward to welcoming you all again at our next coffee morning which will be held on Friday September 10th from 10.30 – 12:00 noon.

Thank you once again
