The Help For Heroes fundraiser held on October 29th  raised a total of £350.

Capt. Gary Rutherford of the 1st Military Working Dog Regiment from St George’s Barracks gave a very interesting talk about the important role working dogs play in the military and his own experiences of 20 years service including tours of duty in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Gary covered the breeds used for different purposes and stressed that wherever possible retired dogs were re-homed, usually with their former handler but civilians can also apply to adopt a retired dog. If you are interested in re-homing one you could contact Gary.

Gary’s colleague Stacey brought along his retired working dog Bodo a Malinois (Belgian Shepherd) whose very affectionate nature in licking and fussing with some of the audience belied his previous role as a ‘bite’ dog!

A very big thanks to all who attended and made donations. The finger food afterwards was tasty and plentiful. A most informative and eye opening evening.

RIDLINGTON VILLAGE HALL 2021 TEAM QUIZ

CANCELLED

Friday, November 19th 7.00 pm for 7.30 pm start

We regret to advise that the Village Hall Team Quiz has been cancelled.

This is because of the recent increases in COVID19 cases nationally. Socially distancing the tables indoors could prove difficult. Therefore out of respect towards all participants, it was felt that this event should be deferred to a later date.

Thank you,
Dave Roome
